The delegation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bahrain under the leadership of Dr. Esam Abdullah Fakhro, Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry, visited the “106th China’s Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair)” in the City of Guangzhou in the Republic of China.
Dr. Fakhro pointed out that the visit was to examine the possibility of participating in the Fair in its next cycle which will be held in April 2011 to highlight the important Bahraini Industries and products reflecting the export potential of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the size of development reached by the Industry. The trip was also an opportunity to get more insight on the services and products offered by Chinese Companies and Industries.
The Canton Fair is considered one of the most important international exhibitions which include all economic sectors. It also gave the delegation from the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce an opportunity to learn the latest Chinese products and industries and investigate the possibility of establishing business partnerships and developing their businesses.
The visit also aimed to promote and develop relations of cooperation and trade exchange between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of China and to establish channels of communication between the business and investment sectors in both countries.
The Canton Fair, under the patronage of the Ministry of Commerce of China and Guangzhou province, is one of the oldest fairs in Asia starting in 1957. The Fair is held twice a year and has witnessed over 100 cycles. Its long history and the variety of products and goods exceed 56,000 companies and commercial enterprises in China and presents more than 150 thousand items. The fair welcomes more than 200,000 visitors from over 210 countries. The total amount of export deals in the last cycle in April 2010 totaling approximately 34.4 billion U.S. Dollars.
Bilateral meetings were also held with exhibitors and representatives of industrial and commercial enterprises in the Chinese City of Guangzhou and a number of senior officials. Economic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Cantonese District was discussed as well as possibility of developing cooperation frameworks to increase the level of participation during the next cycle of the exhibition. This agreement will aim to enhance communication between the two countries through the exchange of visits of official economic and business delegations. This also puts in action the memorandum of cooperation and mutual understanding signed between the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Chinese Stakeholders, which focuses on the exchange of expertise and successful experiences in support of economic projects, especially in small and medium businesses to create a more competitive business environment and create new job opportunities.
The visit also included visiting a number of productive enterprises and industrial companies that have witnessed the industry in the region and the states of production and marketing which covers a wide range of countries including GCC countries.
The fair also included many of the Chinese companies that displayed their traditional products, light industry products, textiles, yarns, clothing, and electrical products, mechanical, technical, construction materials, chemicals, metals, machinery, tools, electronics, electrical appliances, and foodstuffs.
