Yesterday, marked the launch of the Bahrain-China Joint Investment Forum, co-organized by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the China Council for Promotion of International Trade.
The launch included senior Chinese Officials, relevant investment sector representatives, as well as representatives from both the commercial and industrial sector. The aim of the forum was to promote investment advantages and incentives that exist for foreign businesses in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as to encourage the establishment of business partnerships between the two countries.
The forum also sought to highlight the political, economic, and social developments that have been taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa especially with respect to the future economic vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Forum examined a number of issues that could lead to the development of bilateral relations and the increase of trade and investment between the two countries, particularly identifying opportunities in the field of Natural Resources, Finance and Banking for the purpose of enhancing economic cooperation and opening new horizons for mutual benefit. The Forum also investigated the potential of opening a representative office in the Kingdom of Bahrain which will provide legal and economic information which has been developed by the Chinese Authorities for interested parties that are looking for foreign investment opportunities.
The Forum discussed the activation and renewal of the cooperation agreement signed between the two parties as well as the mechanism under which meetings will take place. Mechanisms for settling trade disputes, reviewing investment opportunities for joint promotion of economic cooperation and increase the volume of bilateral trade in the areas of industry (iron, steel, textiles, glass, crystal) was also outlined as well as the exchange of information between the chambers of commerce between the two countries.
