BankMuscat actively participates in national efforts to mitigate the effect of the cyclone

BankMuscat has announced its participation in the national efforts aimed at mitigating the effects of the latest cyclone on families in affected areas in the Sultanate.   BankMuscat Hearts Team, consisting of a group of volunteers from the bank, will take part in the distribution of essential requirements to affected families in coordination and cooperation with the concerned authorities.

Sulaiman Al-Harthy, Group Deputy General Manager - Consumer Banking, BankMuscat, said:  “This initiative from BankMuscat is a modest contribution from the bank to supplement overall national efforts which played a vital role in mitigating the effects of the latest cyclone.  BankMuscat employees who have volunteered to take part in this noble mission will distribute essential requirements to affected families in cooperation with authorities in the affected regions.”

Al Harthy added:  “The Business Continuity Planning Committee had worked, prior to the cyclone, by putting in place precautionary plans aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of the cyclone on the bank’s operations and customer services in addition to ensuring the personal safety of staff during the period of the cyclone.  Contact was maintained with the staff through SMS and e-mails to keep them updated with any developments or instructions.  Additionally, hotline numbers were also installed to report any incidents during the cyclone  and dispatch advice to help secure the safety of the staff and their families as well as the safety of their belongings and the uninterrupted continuity of business.”

BankMuscat Hearts Team consists of bank employees who willingly take part in voluntary social activities.  The team works with the aim of consolidating awareness in society and collecting donations for the purpose of supporting various social and environmental causes through the participation of bank employees in organizing different events and functions. BankMuscat Hearts Team mainly targets women and children (among them those with special needs) as well as other segments of the society in need of support.
