CBB Receives the German Bundestag committee on Economics and Technology

The Central Bank of Bahrain played host to a visiting delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany, (The German Bundestag committee on Economics and Technology).

The eight-member team was led by Professor Dr. Heinz Riesenhuber, Member of Parliament and former Federal Minister for Research and Technology.

The visitors were welcomed by Mr. Hussain Sharaf, Director of Islamic Financial Institutions and briefed about the role of the CBB and its commitment to advancing the growth of Bahrain’s financial sector, a key segment of Bahrain’s national economy.

The delegation was particularly interested in the development of Islamic Finance and the role of Bahrain as a financial centre in the region.

The meeting included a presentation by Mr. Hassan Al Aradi; Head of Islamic Financial Institutions on the role of the CBB and Bahrain in the Development of Islamic Finance, Mr. Al ARadi also reviewed the regulatory framework in overseeing the Islamic financial institutions.
Dr. Heinz was accompanied by Mr. Joern Semmler, the Counsellor of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bahrain, Dr. Mathias Heider (MP), Mr. Franz Obermeir (MP), Mr. Rolf Hempelmann (MP), Mr. Wolfgang Tiefensee (MP & Former Minister of Transport), Dr. Martin Lindner (MP), Ms. Ingrid Nestler (MP), Ms. Nicole Hueck (Head of the Committee Office).
